Functional Capacity Evaluation

A functional capacity evaluation can be utilized to decide wellness to work following a broadened time of restorative leave. On the off chance that a employee can’t come back to work, the FCE gives data on forecast, and word related recovery measures that might be conceivable. A FCE can likewise be utilized to encourage and recognize changes to employee workload, or alterations to working conditions. For example, ergonomic measures, that the business might have the capacity to attempt with an end goal to oblige a worker with an inability or restorative condition. FCEs are expected to decide whether a worker can continue working in a limit “similar with his or her aptitudes or abilities” before the inability or medicinal condition was analyzed. A FCE includes appraisals made by at least one therapeutic specialist. There are two sorts of FCE utilized by the United States Social Security Administration: the Mental Functional Capacity Evaluation (MFCE) that measures passionate and mental limit, and the Physical Functional Capacity Evaluation (PFCE) that measures physical functioning.

Studies have been embraced to evaluate the precision of FCEs in foreseeing the long term results for patients, both as far as coming back to work, and in the likelihood of perpetual handicap.

FCEs are likewise used to decide qualification for incapacity protection, or benefits qualification if an employee is forever unfit to come back to work.

Amid Most FCEs, the accompanying estimations are additionally taken:

  • Lifting power
  • Push and draw control
  • To what extent one can stand or walk
  • Adaptability and coming to
  • Getting a handle on and holding capacities
  • Twisting abilities
  • Equalization capabilities

Graston Technique

Also known as soft-tissue instrument-assisted mobilization, the Graston Technique is a manual therapy that utilizes instruments to massage or scrape the skin gently. The Graston Technique aims to identify areas of restriction in the skin and break up scar tissue to increase movement and flexibility. This, in turn, can reduce pain and provide an improved healing environment for the soft tissue.

Herniated Disc Therapy

Herniated discs are quite common, and we see quite a few cases of this injury in our locations. A herniated disc occurs when the outer layer of the disc — the protective cushion between each vertebrae — ruptures, and the inner gel-like substance leaks through, often touching a nerve and causing considerable pain. Physical therapy often helps reduce that pain.

In Home Physical Therapy

With some people still hesitant to leave home due to COVID-19, Physical Therapy Now offers the convenience of in-home physical therapy. Rather than come see us, one of our physical therapists will come to you and replicate your PT session from the comfort of your own home, practicing all CDC-recommended safety protocols.  We also offer virtual physical therapy, that you can do via your smart phone or laptop.

Joint Injections

When a joint, such as a knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, or elbow, is injured or inflamed, a non-surgical procedure is often recommended to reduce the pain. Joint injections deliver both an anesthetic (numbing agent) and a corticosteroid (pain reliever) directly into the joint to manage pain, improve range of motion, and allow you to perform physical therapy.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape is made with breathable, stretchable material designed to apply the right amount of pressure and support to muscles and tissues. This tape stabilizes an injured area by lightly adhering to the skin and putting pressure on the tissue the tape is wrapped around. This allows the connective tissue around the injured muscle or tendon to keep moving with the body, gently allowing the flow of blood and lymphatic fluid to cleanse and heal the inflammation.

Laser Therapy For Pain

Laser therapy is a pain-free and effective way to manage pain. This form of therapy uses visible light radiation that creates a photochemical reaction within your body’s cells. The wavelengths penetrate the skin and tissue and works to reduce pain and inflammation while promoting healing.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a treatment that helps people perform everyday tasks. People struggling through injury or illness may participate in occupational therapy to relearn or work through daily tasks such as personal hygiene, cleaning, making phone calls, cooking, getting dressed, and caring for pets.

Bulging Disc Treatment

Often confused with herniated discs, bulging discs are actually quite different, though both conditions are associated with the spine. While herniated discs are generally sustained through an acute injury, bulging discs tend to manifest over time–and usually involve multiple discs–as the discs degenerate with age. Treatment for bulging discs often includes injections and physical therapy/home exercise.

Golf Physical Therapy

Yes, golfers get injured much more often than you’d think. The motion of swinging a golf club is swift, and it puts quite a bit of stress on the body. Elbows, wrists, lower back, shoulders, and hips are all vulnerable to golf-related injuries like inflammation, muscle sprains and strains, and others. Fortunately, they all can be treated with various types of physical therapy–including exercise therapy, massage therapy, and pool therapy.

Stroke Therapy

A stroke is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition that shuts down communication between the brain and certain body parts. Stroke victims don’t always fully recover, but quality-of-life restoration is often possible through exercise and therapy that focus on basic motor skills, range of motion, mobility, and physical strength. Electrical stimulation therapy is often effective at aiding stroke victims in their recovery.

Neck Pain Treatment

Neck pain can limit or affect even the slightest movements you make daily. Neck pain can be caused by something as innocuous as sleeping in a strange position or as serious as a car accident. Still, most neck pain is very treatable through physical therapy, massage therapy, exercise therapy, and stretches.

Arthritis Therapy

Arthritis is a very painful condition that affects the joints through swelling, pain, limited range of motion, and stiffness. Generally caused by age, injury, and obesity, arthritis doesn’t have a cure…but it is highly treatable through various types of physical therapy, occupational therapy, pain management, and at-home exercise routines.

Hand Therapy

An injury or condition may result in hand pain, which can be treated through hand therapy by a physical therapist or occupational therapist. Depending on the severity of the pain, a PT or OT will work with your hand to improve flexibility, range of motion, and strength so you can recover fully.

Foot Pain Treatment

The list of the sources of foot pain is quite lengthy. But since we use our feet constantly every day, any type of foot pain or injury should be taken seriously and treated as such. Depending on the condition or injury, a physical therapist might use massage, stretching, heat/ice, and exercise therapy to reduce the pain while increasing the movement in your foot.

Sports Medicine Injury Therapy

Sports injuries can range in severity from a muscle strain to a concussion to a spinal cord injury. Typical muscle, tendon, and ligament strains and sprains often require massage and/or exercise therapy to expedite recovery and reduce pain. Muscle and ligament tears generally call for a prolonged physical therapy regimen to restore range of motion and full use of the injured area. More serious injuries often require more intensive rehabilitation and physical therapy.

Spinal Cord Injury Therapy

Spinal cord injuries vary in severity, but they’re all considered quite serious. Damage done to the spinal cord is generally irreversible. Still, some therapies can help spinal cord injury victims, including physical therapy, occupational therapy for motor skills, electrical stimulation, adaptive devices, and recreational therapy. These treatments may not cure the injury, but they offer many benefits toward leading a more comfortable and functional life.

Pain Management

With many types of pain comes many types of pain management. Rest can help certain types of pain, as can painkillers–however, they can form a dangerous addiction that leads to far more severe problems. Physical therapy is an ideal way to manage pain, specifically through manual therapy (manipulation or soft tissue mobilization) and exercise therapy that has been proven to alleviate many types of pain.

Sports Massage Therapy

Ideal for athletes and generally active people, sports massage therapy consists of manual manipulation of muscles specifically targeting specific muscle groups, joints, tendons and ligaments, and soft tissue used for a particular sport. While some massages focus on tension or pain relief, sports massage helps enhance and support an athlete’s performance, recovery, and relaxation while also aiding in reducing the likelihood of injury.
